    Griffin Technology Academies (GTA Schools) is a network of 4 charter schools in Vallejo, California that focuses on providing students with a high-quality education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.

    The first GTA charter, Mare Island Technology Academy Middle and High Schools was founded in 2001, later adding Griffin Academy Middle and High Schools in 2018.

    GTA Schools serve students in grades 6-12. Griffin Technology Academies offer a variety of programs and services designed to support students in achieving academic success.


    These include:

    small class sizes, personalized instruction, extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities like, burgeoning athletic programs, before and after school care program, early college (dual enrollment, articulation, concurrent enrollment), AVID, and CTE courses.

    The schools also provide students with access to technology resources, including laptops and tablets. Students in High School have the opportunity for community service and internships overseen by our Work-Based Learning Coordinator (WBL).

    Job Summary


    Under the supervision of the school site administrator, the MHS evaluates, develops, plans, and implements, a school-based mental health and guidance program that provides counseling, support, social development, and outreach to assist students to develop positive relationships, resolve conflicts and to learn effective social skills and coping strategies.

    The MHS will foster caregiver/family advocacy by providing community-based resources, family school-based counseling, focus groups, informational presentations/training, and other GTA community needs to build on students' network of supports.

    The MHS will serve as an advocate for the high academic achievement and social development of all students by offering schoolwide prevention and intervention strategies.

    Additionally, the MHS lends consultation, training, and staff development to teachers regarding students' social-emotional learning through the use and supervision of an evidence-based, district-approved curriculum.

    Requirements / Qualifications


    • 4-year college/university degree -Master's Degree in a related field of study (i.e., counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling)


    OR -Advanced degree of at least equivalent standard license or training in area(s) of MFCC, LCSW, or LMFT, LPCC, Clinical Psychology, and/or similar.

    OR -Pre-licensed Post-Graduate obtaining clinical hours:
    Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Social Worker (ASW), APCC (Associate Professional Clinical Counselor) OR -2nd or 3rd year graduate students in a field placement/training or internship -Minimum of two years of experience in student advising, counseling or student services
