    Clinical Coordinator, Physician Associate Medicine

    SUMMARY:

    The Clinical Coordinator assists the Director of Clinical Education in all aspects of the clinical education of the PA Program students. The Clinical Coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating and managing clinical education experiences for our PA students, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and fostering positive relationships with clinical sites.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Administration:

  • Administratively support the Director of Clinical Education in the planning and execution of the clinical curriculum of the program.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum that supports the program's mission, goals, and learning outcomes.
  • Administratively support the Director of Clinical Education in clinical curriculum development, tracking of student progress, and participation on committees as deemed appropriate.
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Education in monitoring student success in their clinical education.
  • Provide administrative and logistical guidance and support to PA students during their clinical rotations.
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Education to address concerns or challenges related to the clinical experience and work towards resolutions.
  • Operations:

  • Collaborate with healthcare organizations and providers to secure diverse and high-quality clinical placement opportunities for PA students.
  • The Clinical Coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating and managing clinical education experiences for our PA students, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and fostering positive relationships with clinical sites.
  • Monitor clinical sites to ensure course and program objectives are being met.
  • Monitor and maintain course content and student academic records on electronic databases and software applications.
  • Maintain accurate records of clinical site affiliations, student placements, and preceptor evaluations.
  • Evaluate and monitor the students' academic progress to ensure educational effectiveness.
  • Serve as a contact point between the program and clinical preceptors to provide ongoing support and faculty development.
  • Responsible for expense management within area budget.
  • Assessment:

  • Assist identifying sources for and participate in the preparation and implementation of grants and contracts supportive of the activities of the PA program.
  • Assist with the development of short and long range strategic plans.
  • Participate in ongoing self-study and other program activities.
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Education with design, specifications and improvements to program resources, supplies, space and equipment.
  • Stay current with trends and best practices, relative to PA clinical education
  • Participate in local, state and national professional organizations to ensure program excellence and appropriateness of clinical curriculum and instruction.
  • Service:

  • Participation in events of benefit to the community, university, and the program. Participate in faculty/staff directed activities in order that the program will be an integral part of the university system.
  • Direct event planning and participate in preceptor and clinical site relations.
  • Participate in all relevant program and university activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • JOB FACTORS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Baccalaureate degree preferred, but not required.
  • Three years of relevant workplace experience. Higher education experience is a plus.
