- Responsible for data collection and data entry (patient history).
- Responsible to provide home exercise protocols for patients per the doctor's request.
- Responsible for patient setup and education of electrical modality units.
- Responsible for patient brace/crutch fitting and product education.
- Responsible for following all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
- Responsible for following all OSHA guidelines while handling blood or bodily fluids.
- Determination of an athlete's physical readiness to participate
- Knowledge of injury evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of normal anatomical structure and function.
- Knowledge of physiological demand and response to exercise.
- Knowledge of normal biomechanical demands of exercise.
- Presentation of educational programs for the healthy and injured athlete's (i.e., alcohol and other drug abuse, performance anxiety)
- Know ledge of nutritional demands of the athlete.
- Know ledge of contraindications and side effects of prescription and non-prescription medications.
- Know ledge of absorption, dissipation, and transmission of energy of varying materials. (i.e., protective padding)
- Know ledge of legal requirements and rules of the athletic event.
- Implementation of pre-season, in-season and post- season strength and conditioning programs.
- Works confidently in crisis or in an emergency situation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of safety practices. (see attached checklist)
- Uses assigned athletic training equipment safely and efficiently.
- Develops treatment programs in accordance with findings of evaluations and goals established by the injury assessment or by the treating physician.
- Assesses athlete's status in response to treatment and modifies programs as appropriate.
- Applies treatment procedures and modalities in accordance with established indications and contraindications.
- Prepares athlete for treatment and insures comfort and safety of athletes.
- Instructs athlete in therapeutic exercise, and strength and conditioning programs.
- Informs athlete and families of important aspects of athlete's present condition, including concussion, wound care, first aid and follow-up care.
- Informs physician and program manager of any necessary documentation or observable signs that need investigation.
- Engaged actively in marketing activities to promote growth of STRHS Sports Medicine.
- Promoted health education through community events and presentations.
- Maintaining business relationships and development of STRHS Sports Medicine referral network.
- Meets criteria for certification as established in the National Athletic Trainers Association with respect to CEU's.
