    Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie Company, is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on experimentalist for the role of Scientist I, Biological Research within the Toxin Innovation program.

    As part of a matrixed organization, he/she/they will have a critical role in developing and executing protein characterization and quality control strategies using analytical discovery approaches to select, optimize, and prioritize therapeutic protein candidates for advancement.

    She/He/They must possess extensive expertise in analytical separation techniques (HPLC, SEC, IEX, RP, HIC, etc.).

    Proficiency with HPLC systems and the ability to develop, optimize, and execute analytical studies to characterize proteins is a requirement.

    Experience with additional techniques such as capillary electrophoresis, DSF, DLS, CD, mass spectrometry, and SPR is beneficial.

    The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of biophysical concepts such as protein structure, kinetics, electrostatics, and enzymatic reactions and an understanding of molecular biology and protein engineering strategies.

    The candidate is expected to participate in scientific discussions regarding the design of experiments and, with guidance, be able to develop or modify or new protocols and methods.

    He/She/They will be skilled in communicating and collaborating with discovery project team members at all grade levels and with diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and levels of expertise.

    The candidate will maintain a productive and inclusive collaborative laboratory environment consistent with department and company expectations.

    He/She/They must conduct all work activities in compliance with company internal and applicable regulatory requirements with strict adherence to safety policies and procedures.

    Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience OR Master's Degree and 2 years of experience.

    Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of Biochemistry, Biophysics, Protein Engineering, and/or related discipline with a focus in heterologous protein characterization and analytics.

    Strong understanding of biophysical concepts of protein structure, kinetics, electrostatics, and enzymatic reactions.
    Knowledge of molecular biology techniques and protein engineering strategies.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills required as is experience with documentation of experimental plans, analyzing data and generating high quality technical reports.

    Highly autonomous and productive in performing laboratory research or method development, requiring minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor.

    Ability to search and understand relevant scientific literature and apply theoretical framework to solving problems within scientific discipline
