    This job was posted by : For more information, please see: A veterinary assistant is a compassionate and self-motivated individual responsible for assisting veterinarians and technicians, general hospital maintenance, animal husbandry, and client interaction.

    This position is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about animals and interested in starting a career in veterinary medicine.

    No prior experience in the field is required, as Onion River Animal Hospital will provide training and guidance to help you succeed in this role.


    Responsibilities:

    • Animal Care and Handling: Assist in caring for and handling dogs, cats, and other small animals.
    This includes but is not limited to feeding, walking, and providing basic care under the supervision of experienced staff members.

    • Cleaning and Sanitization: Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of animal enclosures, examination rooms, treatment area, surgery/dental suites, and other common areas.
    This includes but is not limited to cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing.

    • Assisting Veterinarians and Technicians: Support our veterinarians and technicians with their daily tasks, which include but are not limited to restraining animals for examinations, preparing examination rooms, assisting with basic procedures, and preparing and breaking down the surgical/dental suite.
    • Equipment and

    Supply Management:
    Help stocking and organizing veterinary supplies, medications, and equipment. Learn to set up and clean basic equipment under supervision.

    • Learning and Development: Participate actively in training programs and educational opportunities provided by Onion River Animal Hospital or outside entities.
    Strive to improve your skills and knowledge in veterinary medicine. Maintain the CE requirements in accordance with Onion River Animal Hospitals policy, AAHA policy, State policy, and National Policy.

    Qualifications:
    High school diploma or equivalent

    Passion for animals, their well-being, and their owners

    Strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, and communication skills

    Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced veterinarians and technicians

    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
