    About the Job:


    As Staff Database Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, integrity, and security of our databases that meet the technological needs of our organization.

    Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role requires a strategic mindset, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to managing and optimizing our database systems.


    About the Role:
    The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
    Design, implement, and maintain high-performance database systems that align with business objectives and technical constraints.
    Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of databases through regular monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
    Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and ensure efficient data access.
    Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard sensitive data.
    Stay current on industry regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy laws.
    Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
    Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery procedures to validate system reliability.
    Identify and address performance bottlenecks, working proactively to optimize database systems.
    Analyze and interpret performance metrics to make recommendations for improvements.
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing technical expertise and support.
    Mentor other members of the DBA team.
    Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to database design and configuration, manuals, technical guides, and operational procedures.

    About You:
    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
    12+ years of related experience, master's degree and 8+ years of related experience, or equivalent related work experience.
    Proven experience with a wide variety of relational and NoSQL database technologies (MySQL, Galera, TiDB, Vertica, Cassandra).
    Experience with cloud-based database platforms (RDS, Aurora, Keyspaces, CloudSQL, BigTable).
    Experience with automation tools like Ansible and Puppet.
    Proficiency in database design, implementation, and maintenance.
    Strong understanding of database security principles.
    Solid knowledge of backup and recovery processes.
    Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
