Description

Job Title: Adjunct Instructor, Business, Certification and Licensure

Hagerstown Community College seeks qualified individuals to teach non-credit courses for the Business, Certification and Licensure program in Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education.

About the Role:

This part-time position involves teaching proposed or existing courses approved by the Program Manager and Dean. The number of courses taught per semester and their duration varies based on the instructor's area of expertise, student interest, and other scheduled courses.

Essential Duties:

Plan engaging lesson plans to meet students' needs.
Provide course descriptions and learning objectives to the Program Manager.
Offer differentiated instruction to accommodate various student levels.
Use technology effectively and deliver instruction through multiple methods.
Engage students in discussion and critical thinking.
Cultivate open-minded inquiry.
Promote cooperation and mutual respect among students.
Infuse diverse perspectives into instructional processes and demonstrate respect for individual differences.
Complete orientation process for adjunct faculty.
Submit personnel forms and instructional materials as required.
Provide timely notice if unable to attend class or meetings.
Submit class evaluations and other documents as directed by program staff.

Organizational Relationships:

The Adjunct Instructor will report directly to the Business, Certification and License Program Manager.

Education and Experience:

Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
Previous experience teaching.
Experience teaching adult learners.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Able to adapt styles and approaches to accommodate diverse workplaces and classrooms.
Basic computer skills necessary for using technology in the classroom.
Excellent presentation and/or demonstration skills.
Able to build rapport with students.
