    A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is a highly skilled nurse who collaborates with a diverse healthcare team to provide exceptional anesthesia and pain care services that are evidence-based and patient-centered. They work across different settings, offering care for various procedures including surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management, ensuring adherence to MLH Mission, Vision, and Values.

    Requirements

    Education/Formal Training Work Experience Crediential/Licensure REQUIRED: Completion of a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its equivalent.

    • Certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
    • State licensure as a Registered Nurse and as an APN in Tennessee
    • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS

    Skills
    • Proficiency in administering anesthesia and perioperative care.
    • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
    • Ability to provide age-appropriate and population-specific care.
    • Knowledge of infection control and confidentiality practices.
    • Adherence to facility policies and procedures.
    Responsibilities
    • Conduct preanesthesia assessments and obtain informed consent.
    • Order and administer medication, develop care plans, and provide follow-up care.
    • Manage equipment and medications for sedation, anesthesia, and pain management.
    • Perform airway management and postoperative support.
    • Evaluate patient responses and provide appropriate care.
    • Manage pain and handle emergency situations effectively.
    • Utilize regional anesthetic techniques per privileges.
    Physical Requirements
    • Physical activities may include climbing, pushing, standing, walking, and more.
    • Good balance, coordination, and ability to react quickly to emergencies.
    • Requirement for medium work with occasional exertion up to 50 lbs.
    • Close visual acuity, patient contact, exposure to fluids, and hazardous materials.
