    Job Description:
    Duties/Responsibilities


    • Assists the cardiologist and/or vascular surgeon in the performance of diagnostic and invasive cardiac, vascular and EP procedures.
    • Assists the physician in permanent pacemaker implantation and ICD implants.
    • Shares the responsibility in the acquisition and processing of state-of-the-art imaging and the efficient operation of equipment in the interventional and diagnostic labs.
    • Participates in hemodynamic monitoring, scrubbing and circulating duties.
    • Obtains vital data regarding patient's hemodynamic status and informs physician of any abnormal measurements or changes in patient status.
    • Maintains adequate levels of inventory in assigned procedure and restocks inventories as needed.
    • Reports to the Nurse Manager and Director
    • Utilizes aseptic technique for patient and table preparation. Monitors and documents all essential hemodynamic measurements throughout diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures.
    • Utilizes and troubleshoots all adjunct diagnostic and interventional modalities necessary to complete catheterization/vascular/EP procedures. Assists in recording, storing, retrieval and analyzing data obtained during cardiac, vascular, and EP procedures.
    • Provides technical skills necessary to assist the physician in performing interventional cardiac, endovascular, diagnostic and EP procedures. Provides a safe environment for patient undergoing invasive procedures including instituting methods to reduce radiation exposure. Monitors and documents all X-ray exposure doses. Ensures radiation protection protocols are followed by all staff members and patients.
    • Inventories procedure rooms and stocks as needed. Works collaboratively with clinical manager and, materials management department to maintain adequate inventory. Completes expired stock list monthly.
    • Maintains professional growth by attending seminars and meetings. Participates in cross training in all aspects of the Cardiac Cath Lab. Maintains all CEU's required for certification and/or licensure.
    • Assists with inventory management, supply and procedural billing. Assist billing coordinator with reconciliation of billing errors.
    • Performs and documents daily X-Ray QA. QC all equipment and monitoring equipment.
    • Assembles, calibrates, operates and troubleshoots all pertinent equipment documenting and reporting problems.
    • Rotates through call, onsite within 30 minutes.
    • Mentors and assists in training of students and new employees in the Cath lab and demonstrates successful completion of mentorship.
    • Accurate documentation and data entry.
    • Floats to assistin Diagnostic Imaging.

    Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required


    • 3-5 years related work experience required.
    • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) course completion.
    • Must be able to work in a 20lbs lead apron.
    • Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical specific to functional areas and related systems.
    • Cardiac Interventional Certificate within one year.
    • Knowledge of cath lab inventory.
    • Minimum 3 years recent related experience in Angiography (Special Procedures).
    Education Required


    • Associate's degree required in Radiologic Technology. Bachelor's degree preferred in Radiology.
    Registration/Certification


    • License required: ARRT, ACLS and BLS
    Physical/Environmental Requirements

    This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving
