    The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) plays a critical role in supporting licensed physical therapists in delivering high-quality rehabilitative care to patients recovering from injury, surgery, or managing chronic conditions. This position involves implementing treatment plans designed by physical therapists, monitoring patient progress, and providing therapeutic exercises and modalities to improve mobility and reduce pain. The PTA works closely with patients to encourage adherence to therapy regimens and to educate them on proper techniques and safety measures. Collaboration with the healthcare team is essential to ensure comprehensive care and to adjust treatments based on patient response. Ultimately, the PTA contributes significantly to enhancing patients' functional independence and overall quality of life through compassionate and skilled assistance.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
    • Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant as required by law.
    • Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic exercise techniques.
    • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
    • Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and document patient progress accurately.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working in outpatient, inpatient, or rehabilitation settings.
    • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
    • CPR and First Aid certification.
    • Additional training or certification in specialized therapy techniques such as aquatic therapy or neuromuscular re-education.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse patient populations including pediatric and geriatric patients.
    Responsibilities:
    • Assist physical therapists in executing individualized treatment plans by administering therapeutic exercises and modalities.
    • Monitor and document patient responses and progress during therapy sessions, reporting any concerns to the supervising therapist.
    • Prepare treatment areas and equipment, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patient care.
    • Educate patients and their families on exercises, proper use of assistive devices, and safety precautions to support recovery.
    • Collaborate with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
    The required skills enable the Physical Therapy Assistant to effectively implement treatment plans by understanding therapeutic exercises and patient needs, ensuring safety and efficacy during therapy sessions. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with the healthcare team to provide cohesive care. Attention to detail is critical for accurately documenting patient progress and recognizing any changes that may require therapist intervention. Preferred skills such as familiarity with EMR systems streamline documentation and improve workflow efficiency.
