    Job Summary:

    Reedy Creek Energy Service Cast Members work on behalf of The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) designing and maintaining CFTOD-owned utility systems across the Walt Disney World Resort.

    The Energy Systems Coordinator is the System Operator of the CFTOD interconnected electrical system. The Energy Systems Coordinator coordinates the development and safe execution of switching instructions for the operation of the Transmission and Distribution system. Advise Power Distribution Technicians (High Voltage) to perform electrical grid switching evolutions as part of planned or emergency restoration activities in a 24x7 environment. You will be responsible for the decision-making authority for local and companywide emergency response, notification of emergencies, curtailment, restoration of service interruptions, and utility-related activities.

    You will report to the Team Lead Power Delivery and Electric Operations.

    What You Will Do
    • Creation and distribution of all 12kV and 69kV switching orders, associated clearances, work permits, and permissive orders to facilitate the safe and efficient execution of planned and corrective maintenance activities of the electric transmission, substation and distribution system, instrumentation, and controls across utilities and the electric SCADA system.
    • Ensure electric system operation is conducted following NERC reliability standards, FRCC policies, local operating procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Communicate and respond to directives from balancing authorities.
    • Supervise operations of applicable RCES Utilities and engage field resources and guidance to respond to emergent issues.
    • Maintain system desk reports, logs, records, and work request processing.
    • Assist management when requested with special assignments.
    • Take real-time actions without acquiring approval from higher-level personnel, including shedding firm load to prevent or alleviate unstable or unsafe operating conditions.
    • Work with and support IT personnel to maintain the software systems within the control room.
    • Provide support to Field Operations with technical assistance.
    Required Qualifications & Skills
    • 5+ years of experience working with electric utilities.
    • Detailed knowledge of applicable safety standards, work methods, practices, and training in regards to electric utilities.
    • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
    • Must be flexible and available to respond to after-hour emergencies under short notice on any given day, at any given time. This includes responding to emergencies outside of normal work shifts.
    • Proven knowledge of electric system operation, switching, and maintenance practices.
    • Strong computer skills: proven understanding of Microsoft Office products with the ability to learn other software applications.
    • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
    • Ability to perform work in a variety of field environments.
    • Familiarity with NERC standards.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Knowledge and implementation of error reduction techniques (human performance).
    • Previous experience in distribution control centers (system operations).
    • NERC Certified System Operator license.
    Education
    • A High School Diploma is required
    • An associate degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred
