    Position Summary:

    Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing officer, the incumbent of this position provides direction, oversight, and supervision of the call center. The Call Center Nurse provides supervision to the call center, and he/she is responsible for assisting in disciplinary actions which may or may not require the approval of a higher level of authority. Ensures applicable standards of care are consistently maintained by all nursing personnel throughout acuity and coverage. Provides instructions and guidelines are given by formal and informal coaching and mentoring. Employee is allowed considerable amount of independent judgment. This position is essential to assistant and manage nursing coverage with COVID-19. This position is key to LSH nursing department to ensure nursing coverage is adequate. The Call Center RN is responsible for maintaining adequate staffing to meet the patient/resident requirements for nursing care 24 hours per day. Call Center RN will evaluate unit acuity for each unit. The call center nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care and the needs of the units at each standard nursing shift change. The plan will also determine ancillary staff sufficient to assist in the interventions required to meet the patient/resident needs. Unit's acuity will be used as a guide for staffing each shift and will provide historical data for developing nursing budgets. The Call Center RN must guide and encourage employee participation in quality initiatives through application of overall knowledge of the agency. Encourage involvement and commitment to performance improvement activities; support the hospital in the pursuit of its mission. Serves on various committees as deemed necessary by the CNO.

    Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

    Scheduling, Coverage, and Staffing, Performance Measures

  • Ensures adequate unit coverage is maintained campus-wide.
  • Coordinates staffing for travel arrangements for discharges and off-campus appointment.
  • Coordinates coverage for 1:1 patient care at the hospital.
  • Consult with unit nurses to ensure acuity and coverage is done for each unit on the campus three times per day prior to coverage being sent out.
  • Take call every other weekend for the call center staff
  • Assist with coverage in the call center as needed
  • Ensure employees know and understand the hospital's mission, vision and value; relevant policy changes what is different, if anything, from what has been in place, for employees to exert their efforts and emphasis for any expected change.
  • Maintains compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency guidelines
  • Encourage, mentor, and coach on the elements of customer service
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with standards of care required by accrediting agencies, KDHE, Fire Marshall and internal auditing
  • Complete working schedule for all call center staff each month
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment

  • Protects confidentiality of PHI by following HIPAA regulations.
  • Demonstrates good personal hygiene and follows infection control guidelines, including frequent hand hygiene.

  • Performs a variety of general office duties :

  • Answers phone messages/ information.
  • Refers emergency/ critical information to appropriate managerial or supervisory staff.
  • Establishes and maintains files.
  • Copies/ compiles information as needed.
  • Gathers and distributes mail.
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications :
  • Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Kansas State Board of Nursing
  • Must have at least two years of experience as a RN
  • Must have at least one year of supervisory experience
  • Requires an approved drug test approved by the Kansas Department of Administration unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position within the same agency performing substantially similar duties.
  • CPI Certification within 30 days of hire
  • CPR Certification
  • Must have valid Kanas Driver's License
  • Preferred Qualifications :
  • Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : Ability to pass a KBI background and pre-employment drug test.
