- Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned timeframes to enhance safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency throughout the fleet's lifecycle.
- Conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment, in compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Execute high-quality preventive maintenance inspections following company protocols on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment.
- Perform necessary maintenance repairs to ensure maximum safety and reliability of all fleet vehicles, such as tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment.
- Address all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups promptly and effectively.
- Diagnose the root cause of malfunctions and carry out repairs to manufacturer specifications, covering areas like engines, transmissions, clutches, drive-line, differential, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust systems, intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Adhere to procedures, including documenting all work performed on work orders.
- Acquire proficiency in Sysco computer programs.
- Demonstrate competence in electrical meter testing.
- Utilize knowledge of controls and electric (DC low voltage).
- Possess expertise in electric motor operations (DC).
- Complete necessary electrical repairs and welding projects as required.
- Completion of Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training
- High school diploma or GED required
- Combination of a 2-year school and 1 year of experience or 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair
- Valid driver's license required
- Annual Inspector Certification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Brake Inspector Certification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- ASE certifications in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks (Preferred, Not Required)
- 609 HVAC Certification
- Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic software for OEM's and component manufacturers
- Must have and maintain all tools necessary for maintenance, repair, and diagnostics (with diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by Sysco)
- Extensive knowledge and skill in all vehicle systems and components
- Moderate knowledge and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems in all equipment
- Basic knowledge and skill in welding and cutting techniques (gas, electric, MIG, TIG)
- Basic computer literacy
- Moderate understanding of all DOT (FMCSA) regulations
- Basic knowledge of OSHA safety and environmental regulations
- The role entails excellent hand and finger dexterity for wrenches, hand tools, and shop equipment.
- Specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment are necessary.
- Proficiency in operating various equipment
- Capable of standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying, grasping tools, and performing repetitive motions with wrenches and hand tools
- Regular tasks include sitting, standing, walking, and using hands and fingers to operate computers and telecommunication devices for talking and listening.
- Frequent activities involve sitting, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, or crawling.
