    Summary



    TSA seeks student interns under TSA's Temporary Student Internship Program (TSIP) to encourage interest in public service careers and provide valuable work experience. Students develop skills and talents that prepare them to become the next generation of leaders in the federal workforce. As a student trainee intern you will gain first- hand experience within TSA's work environment, learn about the federal government and perform a variety of tasks related to supporting TSA activities.



    Duties


    This Student Trainee position is located within the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

    If selected for this position, you will be a Student Trainee under the TSA Temporary Student Internship Program (TSIP). You will be performing assigned duties under the general direction of a manager or more experienced employees. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring the accuracy of information and work products to consistently produce high-quality work.
    • Identifying various resources required to support program operations.
    • Contributing to accomplishing organizational missions.
    • Researching, investigating, and reviewing requests for information and ensuring they are complete and meet basic requirements.
    • Creating, updating and maintaining records, documents and reports using a variety of automated systems.
    • Entering analytical data and formatting spreadsheets used for data interpretation.
    Student internships at TSA span across many areas of the organization under various pillars, Enterprise Support, Security Operations, Direct Reports, Operational Support, Chief of Staff, Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service. Program areas where student interns may work include but are not limited to: information technology, cybersecurity, data analytics, public policy and administration, business and financial management, human resources, communications, law and policy, civil rights and liberties, engineering, economic policy, and many more.     The specific duties and responsibilities associated with this position will vary based on the team or office assignments. The following is a general overview of responsibilities and expectations.
    • Plan and complete work assignments on time.
    • Collect and analyze relevant information.
    • Draft quality documents.
    • Communicate relevant and accurate information, clearly and concisely during formal and/or informal meetings.

    • Use various enterprise tools and technology to prepare and share documents.
    • Provide essential support such as arranging meetings, taking notes, responding to routine inquiries.
