The hospital consistently delivers a state-of-the-art healing environment to residents of Osceola, Orange, Polk and Lake Counties, as well as to visitors from across the United States and the world.

The Diagnostic Medical and Vascular Sonographer, under general supervision performs general Sonography and Vascular Sonography procedures in accordance with department protocols.

Performs, at a technical level, a variety of ultrasound procedures on neonatal through geriatric patients. Selects practical applications and technical factors. Participates in the AdventHealth performance improvement program.

Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

Exam Supervision and Administration:

Consistently obtains the highest quality scans possible in relation to patient body habitus and/or NPO prep status as observed by Radiologists, Ultrasound Educator, and Ultrasound Manager.

Follows proper exam protocols as outlined in department Policy and Procedure manual. Performs, properly documents, and reports all procedures in accordance with departmental policy. Adapts procedure to each patient's medical situation obtaining all available necessary information for proper interpretation.


Diagnostic Image Quality and Documentation:
Reviews all images on ultrasound machine or Web and thoroughly fills out Ultrasound worksheet in a timely manner.

Keeps supervisor or manager informed and seeks assistance from appropriate individuals when confronted with complicated procedures to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Data Processing:
Utilizes computer system to update exam status, cancel/update orders as needed. Notifies Radiology Facilitator (RF) and transmits required worksheet and requisition for all after-hour's cases. Effective knowledge of all Information Systems used in the Ultrasound department. Accurately documents, completes and charges procedures to ensure quality standards set by the department and hospital. Follows all AdventHealth policies and departmental procedures' outlines.
Ability to learn and master new tasks related to the computer and AGFA Pacs system

• Ability to function independently with little or no supervision
• Graduate of Ultrasound Program
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS (AB) and
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS (OB/GYN) and
• Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment
• Breast Sonography knowledge
• Pediatric and Neuro Sonography knowledge
• Graduate of Vascular Ultrasound Program
• Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field
