The BHUCC Nurse

Responsibilities:

• Assist with crisis interventions and medical emergencies, take vital signs regularly.
• Follow CIWA protocol for detox medication administration.
• Communicate with healthcare professionals and agencies as needed.
• Responsible for triaging referrals, assessments, medication management, and charting.
• Ensure proper protocols are followed before admitting clients.

Working Conditions:

• Provide direct medical care on a 23-hour Behavioral Health Urgent Care Unit during 12-hour shifts.
• Required to work 12-hour shifts regardless of weather conditions or holidays.
• Certified in de-escalation techniques and physical care maneuvers.

Daily Duties:

• Perform nursing assessments, update records, dispense medication, and provide medical care.
• Obtain vital signs, drug screens, and tests.
• Complete all necessary charting and documentation.
• Participate in team meetings and transitions.

Team Collaboration:

• Orient and train new staff, maintain positive relationships, and resolve conflicts professionally.
• Adapt to changing assignments and cover shifts when required.
• Promote diversity and cultural respect in the work environment.

Salary:

• Starting pay approximately $21.67/hr based on experience and education.

Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays rotation.
• Attendance and punctuality are crucial.
• Remain alert and active during shifts.

Travel: N/A

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer skills for documentation.

Requirements:

Education:

• LPN with Tennessee license and psychiatric experience.
• CPR certification required.

Experience / Knowledge:

• Sound understanding of psychiatric medications and treatment.
• Experience in crisis intervention preferred.

Physical:

• Lift weight, perform physical tasks, and maintain certifications.
• Sound judgment and ability to handle pressure.
