    Purpose/Introduction

    Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking an Electrical Reliability Analyst to join our team in Orange, Texas. The primary responsibility of the Electrical Reliability Analyst is to provide technical support to the Orange Facility to identify and eliminate equipment failures, improve the quality of new installations, operation of assets, maintenance repairs, and ensure work is done in accordance with required standards, best practices and applicable regulations and industry codes. #HPCP

    Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the industrial electrical distribution equipment for the site.
  • Monitor and improve reliability metrics (Bad Actors, Asset Strategies, Spare Parts, Criticality, FMEA, PM/PdMs, etc.)
  • Develops reliability plans, preventative maintenance programs, and repair specifications to minimize recurring performance problems on simple or moderately complex equipment. (i.e., mechanical integrity covered equipment inspection frequencies, equipment overhaul scope)
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the electrical engineering practice
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers and technicians
  • Resolve and plan for obsolescence concerning the facilities electrical distribution equipment
  • Maintain an effective rapport with Leadership, EHS, Maintenance, Operations and Project Engineering groups
  • Support continuous improvement of the facility's Mechanical Integrity program
  • Leverage new technologies
  • Lead and participate in equipment failure and incident investigation including making improvement recommendations
  • Participate in plant Management of Change process
  • Review electrical specifications, drawings, and other documentation; assist in reviewing IFA/IFC construction packages, participate in QA/QC, commissioning, and startup of electrical equipment
  • Follow company specific practices, standards, guidelines, and procedures for preparation of estimates, scopes, specifications, design, and other deliverables
  • Interface with other cross functional groups, customers, and vendors/suppliers to ensure successful development and execution of projects/repairs/replacement/FATs/SATs regarding electrical equipment
  • Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must have at least 10 years of electrical expertise with at least 5 years in the petrochemical, chemical or manufacturing industry
  • Knowledgeable of electrical equipment such as: switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, protection relays (Motor, differential, feeder), transformers, substations, and motors (induction and synchronous)
  • Electrical QA/QC and FAT/SAT experience
  • Understanding of electrical drawings such as: one and three lines, area classification, motor control schematics, wiring and relay diagrams
  • Experience with OSHA, Electrical Safe Work Practice (NFPA 70E), and NEC
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with instrumentation design, installation, and maintenance
  • Experience with NETA ATS/MTS, NFPA 70B, API 541 and API 547
  • Experience with voltage up to 138kV
  • Experience in protection relaying
  • Experience in CdM type maintenance such as: PdMA, Ultrasonic, Infrared Thermography
  • Basic understanding of performance and assessment tools such as RCA, FMEA, MTBR, 5-Why/WhyTree, or others
  • Knowledge of ETAP
  • Experience with SAP, APM, and/or PowerDB
