    Description
    GDIT is seeking a Senior Backup Engineer to support the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID). In this role, you will be part of a team of eight systems administrators / engineers responsible for protecting a 27PB multi-geographic Enterprise environment using CommVault software to protect Infinidat, NetApp, and HPC environments.

    How a Senior Backup EngineerWill Make an Impact:
    • Collaborate with members of the Data and Cyber Operations Team to improve SLA's around backups across all platforms
    • Provide technical expertise for projects to implement new backup technologies or upgrade existing technologies in backup environment
    • Make recommendations to improve stability, efficiency, and capabilities of backup environment
    What You'll Need to Succeed:

    Education: BS/BA (or equivalent)

    Required Experience: Minimum of five years of experience working in complex or large backup environments

    Required Technical Skills:
    • Experience designing solutions for or supporting Disaster Recovery and COOP for Enterprise Storage or Backup
    • Experience supporting, administering, and configuring one or more of the following backup software technologies - Rubrik, CommVault, Networker, or NetBackup
    • Working with Spectra tape libraries and LTO tape technologies
    • Troubleshoot and resolve backup issues related to backup software and disks, cloud or tape/disk library failures in a multi-site enterprise comprised of Windows, Linux, MAC, and High-Performance Compute systems
    • Must have knowledge and understanding of data protection technologies, deduplication, data replication, encryption, and the interdependencies between backup clients and the backup environment, including the network, storage, and tape/disc libraries
    Security Clearance Level: Must have an active NIH public trust

    Required Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge and understanding of VMWare
    • Must be able to effectively communicate
    • Ability to write standard operating procedures
    • Ability to clearly explain recommendations about backup technologies or issues in a professional manner.
    Preferred Skills:
    • Experience using Rubrik, CommVault, Networker, or NetBackup
    • Experience with using commercial clouds providers as a backup destination.

    Salary and Benefit Information
    The likely salary range for this position is $103,360 - $139,840. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
