    About the Position:


    The City of Grand Junction seeks a creative, solution-oriented Project Engineer to work primarily on infrastructure projects to support the Water Services Division.

    This position will be involved in planning, budgeting, design, permitting, and construction administration for a variety of utility infrastructure projects.

    The City of Grand Junction is seeking to hire a Professional Engineer with 4 or more years of experience to implement these critical projects while maintaining positive working relationships with both internal and external customers.

    About the Public Works Engineering Division:

    The mission of the Engineering Division is to evaluate, and implement improvements, for the public infrastructure systems of the City to maintain acceptable levels of service and accommodate future growth.

    The Engineering Division includes a team of engineers and industry professionals that help provide technical support and project management for all City Departments.

    The Water Services Division is committed to providing customers with the highest quality and most reliable drinking water, at the lowest cost possible.

    This is achieved by diverting and storing raw water supplies from the Grand Mesa, processing that water at our treatment plant, distributing treated water, and assuring water quality during each step of the process.

    What You'll Do:


    Perform engineering design tasks for assigned projects; coordinate start up meetings; perform calculations and modeling; prepare final layouts of infrastructure improvements; coordinate departments and jurisdictions involved in projects; evaluate budgetary constraints.

    Participate in the selection of private contractors and consultant engineers for various projects; determine scope of work; participate in the preparation of Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications; advertise for bids; participate in the review of proposals and bids; participate in award of contract.

    Develop and present construction plans, specifications, contract documents, bid documents and cost estimates for proposed projects.

    Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities for assigned programs; recommend improvements and modifications.

    Coordinate reviews by other City departments and outside agencies; obtain permits and authorizations from appropriate jurisdictional agencies; verify compliance with City standards and practices; approve drawings for construction.

    This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drugscreens due to the nature of the work performed.


    What We're Looking For:
    Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience.
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
    Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.

    Possession of, or ability to obtain, registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado within 1 year of employment.

    Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
