Wiley University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Mathematics. The Assistant Professor of Mathematics is a full-time position responsible for teaching undergraduate and possibly graduate courses in mathematics, conducting scholarly research, and engaging in service activities within the general education and biology departments and the university community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching, a commitment to scholarly inquiry, and a willingness to contribute to the academic and intellectual life of the university. The candidate will also spearhead all math laboratory or co-requisite math course to provide supplemental instruction in math. The Assistant Professor of Mathematics reports to the Dean of Education and Sciences and works closely with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to advance the department's mission and goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:

1. Develop and deliver undergraduate courses in mathematics, which may include college algebra, pre-calculus, statistics, and other areas of specialization.
2. Employ effective pedagogical strategies, instructional technologies, and active learning techniques to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
3. Teach a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester.
4. Hold required office hours and updated the course shell in the LMS (Canvas)
5. Develop and teach co-requisite math courses to provide supplemental instruction in math-related areas.
6. Contribute to departmental and university service activities, including committee assignments, curriculum development, assessment, and academic governance.
7. Participate in outreach initiatives, such as mathematics competitions, K-12 education partnerships, and community engagement programs, to promote mathematics awareness and appreciation.
8. Stay current with developments in the field of mathematics through ongoing scholarship, professional networking, and participation in conferences, workshops, and seminars. Seek opportunities for professional growth, such as obtaining teaching certifications, acquiring new research skills, or developing expertise in emerging areas of mathematics.
9. Collaborate with colleagues within the general education and biology departments and across other disciplines to foster interdisciplinary research and teaching collaborations.
10. Contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives, interdisciplinary courses, and interdisciplinary research projects that bridge mathematics with other fields of study.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Mathematics or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, as evidenced by teaching evaluations, syllabi, and instructional innovation. Strong research potential or record of scholarly publications in reputable mathematics journals or conferences. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service activities.
