- Focuses on leadership-level giving and contributes to fundraising efforts across various departments within the University.
- Manages a portfolio of donor prospects, conducts face-to-face visits, and achieves specific fundraising goals annually.
- Strengthens relationships with donors and identifies, solicits, and stewards major gift donors.
- Leads the development and execution of planned giving strategies.
- Stays updated on industry best practices and implements innovative ideas within the Development profession.
- Contributes to the successful execution of University Campaign through personal solicitations.
- Develops an annual work plan encompassing relationship management, gift closing strategies, and event planning.
- Maintains donor contact records in the Raiser's Edge database.
- Attends various internal and external events to engage with potential donors.
- Promotes teamwork across organizational levels to accomplish responsibilities effectively.
- Enhances professional growth through continued education and participation in relevant workshops and seminars.
- Organizes donor relation events and fulfills other assigned duties.

Description
Job Title: Director of Development and Planned Giving
Reports Directly To: Vice President of Development
Function: The Director of Development and Planned Giving plays a crucial role in implementing a comprehensive fundraising program to support Charleston Southern University's mission and vision. Collaborates with the President's office, college deans, and development staff to meet the University's fundraising needs, engaging effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
General Duties:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. 3-5 years of fundraising, marketing, or sales experience, particularly in higher education. Strong written, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to travel and attend events outside regular hours. Proficient in communication, organization, and computer skills.
This position will be available until filled.
