    Geriatrics VISTA


    As a non-profit in the field of healthcare, it is TWCCH mission to improve the health and welfare of our communities by providing opportunities for individuals and communities to receive care regardless of socioeconomic status.

    VISTAs will contribute to several projects that will connect economically disadvantaged individuals in Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wayne Counties to integrated health care.

    VISTAs will possess a strong work ethic and be able to develop ideas in a collaborative setting. Two of the most important attributes VISTAs should display are empathy and compassion to which the people we serve.

    Major functions will include outreach, research, forming relationships with internal and external stakeholders and improving access to integrated healthcare services; and expanding the service lines offered to members of ours.

    VISTAs will be given an opportunity to work within our Geriatrics Service Line where we serve the older adult population.

    Recent graduates with an interest in creating opportunities for change and growth amongst the geriatric population will develop programs; create a registry of providers who are committed to improving coordination of care for geriatric patients, and perform data analysis on outcome measures.

    VISTAs commit to one year of service with TWC and will receive a living allowance which matches the AmeriCorps standard and mileage reimbursement provided by TWC pending trip length.

    Member Duties :

    To improve healthcare access to economically disadvantaged geriatric patients through the establishment of partnerships with major insurance payers, grant writing, and marketing to local community-based organizations to address barriers to care.

    *Establish relationships by meeting with insurance companies to leverage billing rates for services provided to patients. *Develop a sustainability plan for the Geriatric service line.

    *Educate and promote the service line in surrounding communities in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Department at The Wright Center for Community Health.
