    SUMMARY:

    The Tummy Nutrition Specialist monitors, educates and trains childcare center staff on the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

    The Tummy Nutrition Specialist maintains electronic records in accordance with CACFP regulations. The Tummy Nutrition Specialist monitors meal service at in person visits at the participating childcare centers to ensure compliance. The Tummy Nutrition Specialist is active in promotion of synergy across YWCA programs and in Racial Justice work.





    COLLABORATES WITH:
    The Tummy Nutrition Specialist manages relationships with the childcare program staff, program members, other YWCA staff members, and community representatives.


    ESSENTIAL responsibilities:


    Data Entry and File Maintenance:

    Perform a variety of office duties including answering phone calls, copying, processing paperwork, calculating eligibility, data entry, auditing, and record keeping.

    Perform data entry for centers' computerized file updates.

    Maintain program specific records and files, including those for center licensing, enrollment forms, child registration data, and files/reports for the ISBE.

    Ensure that files are current and regularly updated.


    Claim Processing: Enter monthly reports to database for claims reimbursement processing. Prepare and submit providers' claims for reimbursement. Evaluate and approve monthly claims of providers documents for accuracy.


    Training and Technical Assistance: Provide individual technical assistance and support. Provide technical assistance on recordkeeping and programmatic errors with homes. Assists in annual training of provider. Respond in a timely manner to provider communication via calls and emails.


    Introduction Visits and Training: Recruit new childcare homes. Complete enrollment and training visits to new homes entering the program. Educate provider about the CACFP Tummy program, as well as YWCA Metropolitan Chicago's available services. Assist childcare providers with completion of required forms and program requirements. Complete four-week follow-up visits of new Providers. Provide excellent customer service to centers and other YWCA Metropolitan Chicago clients.


    Monitoring Visits: Conduct childcare monitoring visits (in person and virtually) to ensure compliance of CACFP standards, and to provide training, technical assistance, and resources. Use appropriate judgment in upward communication regarding concerns.


    NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in administrative and program meetings, as appropriate. Responsible for promoting and educating individuals about all programs and assisting clients in navigating the Child Care Assistance Program, Tummy Nutrition Education Services and other programs offered within the YWCA.





    OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
    Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned, whether for a project, special needs task or other assignment.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    At minimum, six months of customer service and administrative support experience, within a service-oriented environment, are required.

    The position requires a proactive self-starter and skills that include: a demonstrated ability to work independently; to handle multiple assignments and tasks; and to apply and comply with various policies and procedures.

    Good telephone etiquette and ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner are necessary to the role.

    Intermediate level of skills with MS Office and Outlook are required; skills with database management, proficiency with spreadsheets and internet search applications are necessary.

    Experience in the organization and implementation of office projects and filing systems, databases and calendars is required. A general knowledge of community resources is desirable.

    Discretion is required for handling of documents and for member concerns. Demonstrated respect and appreciation for working in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural work environment must be evident. The Tummy Nutrition Specialist must be able to work effectively with members who may show stress and impatience.


    Professional Training Required: A minimum of fifteen (15) hours of professional training related to Early Childhood and/or to the responsibilities of the position is required annually.

    Note: A bilingual Tummy Nutrition Specialist who works with a foreign language speaking community must demonstrate cultural competency with that community and fluency in both English and the community's language (oral and written).





    EDUCATION

    REQUIRED:
    AHigh School diploma, or GED, is required. An associate degree or a progress toward completion of a degree is preferred.

    REQUIRED:


    This position will require documented proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. New employees will be required to provide proof of vaccination prior to start date.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment includes offices; members and visitors may visit with children. The noise level is usually moderate. Movement requirements include walking, stooping, or kneeling. There may be a need to reach, lift or move objects, such as packages, supplies and computers. Normal (or corrected) vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols are necessary to the work, which may require close viewing. Occasionally may need to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Communication needs include seeing, hearing, and speaking. While in the office, there will be periods of sitting, holding a telephone and using computers. Reasonable accommodations may be made for an incumbent to meet the essential responsibilities of the position.





    WORK SCHEDULE:
    Monday - Thursday, 8:00am-4:30 pm, Friday 8:00am-1:30pm. This position may require work on some early mornings, evenings and weekends. Schedule can vary depending on the needs of the agency.
