    Job Description

    The City of Tomball is looking for a Part-time Archivist who will be responsible for professional archival and records management work related to the assessment, inventory, and processing of local government records, as well as organizing documents of archival significance.

    A confidentiality agreement is required prior to employment.

    Reports To: Genealogy Librarian

    Positions Supervised: None

    Education and Experience: An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered, including two years of related work experience and a high school education or equivalent combination. Preferred qualifications include experience in conservation/preservation, history, library science, or related fields.

    The Archivist's role within the organization involves evaluating, inventorying, and processing historical records, responding to service requests, and ensuring the confidentiality of materials.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collect, index, and process physical and digital materials
    • Create finding aids following national standards
    • Prepare collections for preservation digitization
    • Provide research support and assist in stack maintenance
    • Ensure appropriate access to collections

    Success Framework:

    • Experience in records processing
    • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to handle fragile materials
    • Team player with good communication skills

    Work Environment: Office setting with occasional physical discomforts; may involve lifting boxes up to 25 pounds.

    SALARY:

    • Hiring Range: $20.10
    • Salary Range: $19.14 - $28.72
