- Demonstrates expertise through hands-on experience with reliability modeling and prediction methods
- Collaborates with other site organizations and engineering disciplines to ensure new and modified installations meet reliability and maintainability expectations
- Offers guidance on adherence to availability, maintainability, and reliability standards for equipment in maintenance, turnaround, and capital projects
- Strategically define, design, develop, monitor, and maintain an annual and three-year reliability plan in a professional and systematic manner
- Creates value-added preventive maintenance tasks by effectively utilizing predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
- Contributes input to a Risk Management Plan, anticipating both reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation
- Devises solutions to repetitive failures and other problems that adversely affect plant operations
- Provides technical support to production, maintenance, and technical personnel, ensuring smooth operations
- Identifies long-term opportunities for improvement focusing on equipment reliability.
- Studies OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) data; uses data to Pareto and help prioritize and target equipment bad actors.
- Analyzes equipment CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) performance data and equipment history to identify repetitive and/or costly failure occurrences.
- Applies sophisticated reliability-based tools and processes to investigate Root Cause (RCA) equipment failures and provide recommendations for elimination, ensuring corrective actions are linked back to equipment strategies.
- Performs technical review of instrumented systems designs and modifications.
- Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety at all times; participates in and/or leads safety teams or projects as appropriate
- Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position
- 8 years minimum experience required
- Preferred industries: petrochemical, chemical, or oil refining
- Experience must be in a direct hire capacity taking part in a continuous process
- Knowledge of Maintenance and Reliability best practices required
- Process controls, PLC infrastructure, and calibration systems experience a plus
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position and at Company
- Fluent in English language including reading, writing, and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in the organization
- Working knowledge and proficient understanding and application of international standards:
- Experienced in reliability methodologies and tools: Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Weibull Tree Analysis (WTA), Pareto Analysis (PA), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
- Proficiency in the following technologies: Control Valves, Process instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow, level), Motors, motor controls, and drives, Analyzers and sample systems, Basic knowledge of power distribution systems
- Proficient in defining and developing: PM Optimization (PMO) , Predictive (PdM)
- Proficient in reading: Electrical one-line diagrams, Control logic function blocks, PLC ladder logic, Boolean logic, Cause and effects matrix
- Knowledge and experience in utilizing instrumentation engineering software: InTools, Conval 11, Flowserve Performance Nxt (control valve sizing), Fisher Specification Manager (control valve sizing)
- Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities and implemented in work designed.
- Serves as a member of a cross-functional team to resolve equipment problems, investigate incidents, and improve reliability/availability
- Meets company quality assurance requirements for personal work assignments
- Provides competent coverage for issues concerning site instrument control systems and electrical systems.
- Possesses strong interpersonal leadership skills are critical due to the requirement for effective communication of complex issues across the organization as well as for mentoring and consensus building
- Acknowledges the importance of instrumented systems used as Independent Protection Layers (IPLs)
- Collaborates with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations
- Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans
- Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical suppliers and maintenance service providers
- Must be self-motivated and possess skills to identify and solve unusual problems
- Must be able to make decisions and recommendations with minimal supervision
- Stewardship and Technical Review of Safety Instrumented Systems
- Provide technical expertise to Operations and Maintenance personnel
- Expertise in Process Instrumentation Including Process Monitoring Devices, Control Valves, Distributed
- Control Systems and PLC
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and their administration.
- Must be willing to spend time in the field as required

The Reliability Engineer will provide strategic reliability support to ensure safe, cost-effective production of high product quality. This role will be the SME for instrument and electrical reliability and long-term reliability strategies to optimize asset utilization.

This position requires an employee to be in an office environment, outside and exposed to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of them hazardous. During construction, the employee will be required to work in a construction zone with various hazards normally experienced in these environments.
