    Job Details

    MD orders for all MSW - PCLS consults.

    Psychiatrist/providers do initial screens for all PCLS consults to determine if holds are needed or if case is consult only for medication assistance.

    PCLS provider determines PCLS social worker involvement based on patient remaining on legal hold status.

    PCLS social workers perform initial assessments for patients on legal holds including evaluation of mental status, living situation, support system, drug and mental health history, physical functional status, financial status, and discharge planning needs.

    PCLS social workers communicate with nursing management and unit social workers/case managers regarding legal hold status and discharge planning.
    PCLS social workers maintain contact with agencies and families for collateral information and discharge arrangements.

    PCLS social workers monitor cases through the duration of legal holds and complete advisements as patients transition between legal hold levels.

    PCLS social workers monitor potential for conservatorship for patients on legal hold with GD status and ensure timely referrals to Public Guardian.

    Job Requirements

    Master's degree in social work required (licensed not required).
    Minimum two years of experience in clinical setting required.
    Previous counseling experience preferred.
    Ability to read, write legibly, speak English professionally, and use necessary computer and office equipment.

    Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with others, provide leadership and supervision, follow policies consistently, and work calmly under pressure.

    Ability to manage complex interpersonal relations with patients and staff.
    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple assignments effectively.
    Mental health crisis intervention experience.
    Schedule Information

    Contract length is 13 weeks.
    Unit Specific Information

    Work involves psychiatric legal hold patients (5150/5585, 5250, TCON or PCON).
    PCLS social workers perform initial assessments and ongoing monitoring of patients on legal holds.
    Collaboration with psychiatric providers, nursing management, and case management is required.
    Involves discharge planning and coordination with external agencies and facilities.
    Additional Details

    Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
    Able to operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment and software.
    Able to type 30 words per minute without errors.
    Able to distinguish colors, hear, read, and speak sufficiently for general conversation and workplace needs.
    Able to think critically, problem solve, organize and prioritize workload, and pay close attention to detail.
