    Overview

    The Director, Operations position serves as an Operations Leader for all of General Dynamics-OTS (OTS). This role uses foundational Operations knowledge and Lean / Six Sigma methodologies along with strong leadership competencies to recognize and drive improvement across all aspects of the business. This role will mentor site Operations and CI leaders in the concepts of manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement, provide factory support to OTS sites, drive Operation Excellence methodologies in all aspects of the organization, and lead special projects as needed by the business. The Director, Operations will provide leadership to the OTS Manufacturing Council, assess and support sites in their Operational and Lean maturity, lead the OTS Operations Review process to include the metrics and methodologies used to measure and drive improvement across OTS, and lead the business analytics initiatives for the Operations team in coordination with and support of the leadership teams. Support of root cause analysis and corrective action teams will also be a critical part of the position along with actively participating in industry associations for benchmarking and implementation of best practices.

    Responsibilities
    • Directs the organization's operations function and develops operational programs, policies, and processes.
    • Coaches, mentors and provides general support/leadership to the organization on Operational and Lean/Six Sigma best practices.
    • Identifies opportunities for improvement, develops a project plan for implementing improvements, and monitors the new process to ensure it works as intended.
    • Oversees recurring or daily functions or processes necessary for business execution (i.e. Site level factory support) and identifies opportunities for improvement or efficiencies.
    • Develops strategies meant to assist the business in meeting its critical goals and objectives in the most efficient manner possible.
    • Approves and allocates resources based on business priorities.
    • Primarily responsible for strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the department or function in alignment with organizational objectives.
    • Establishes, evaluates, and recommends changes to departmental policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization's long-term success.

    Qualifications
    • Associate's degree required; Master's degree preferred
    • Discipline/Major:Engineering, Business Management or other related Degree
    • 10-12 years of relevant experience required; Experience in Negiotiations and Project Management.
    • Experience in Minitab and Power BI preferred.
    • Advanced knowledge in Excel preferred.
    • Excellent decision- making skills, influencing skills, oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, statistical knowledge, and conceptual thinking skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient with use of Microsoft Office
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Where applicable, experience with government owned/contractor operated location facility management, performance work statement requirements, and associated DOD requirements, such as DODM 6055; If site manufactures or works with energetics / explosives, must have experience with energetics safety and DOD M .
    Travel
    • 25-50% travel likely
    Physical Demands:
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
    • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities
    • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential
