    Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Project Engineer to join our team at California State University, Long Beach for an exciting project.

    Project Overview:

    The project involves the renovation of 180,000 GSF of the existing USU building and a 50,000 GSF addition. Key elements include food service, wellness center, cultural resource centers, career center, office & administration, social & lounge spaces, recreation & entertainment space, event & meeting spaces, general improvements, accessibility upgrades, and site work.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide design, technical and administrative support during the preconstruction phase, construction phase, and closeout phase.
    • Manage project document control, circulating, receiving, tracking, and maintaining organized document files, including review plans, meeting minutes, RFIs, submittals, change orders, ASIs, schedules, etc.
    • Responsible for management of review comments from stakeholders, including circulating design documents for review, collecting review comments, compiling, vetting, tracking, etc. to ensure issues are addressed.
    • Assist with change order management by reviewing requests for merit and fair pricing and preparing change orders for processing.
    • Oversee the closeout and turnover process.
    • Prepare project files for CSU system audit at project completion.
    • Verify site conditions and provide support as needed.
    • Set up meetings as needed, take notes, and follow-up.

    Requirements:

    • 6+ years minimum experience in the construction industry as a project engineer or similar, including major capital projects.
    • Excellent communication skills and professional attitude.
    • The position is on-site, in-person only.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Design-Build Experience.
    • CM at Risk Experience.
    • Higher Ed Experience.
    • CSU Experience.
    • Experience as a PE for General Contractor.

    Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
