    Description


    Job Summary:

    In this role you will work with the engineering team to prototype and test new product designs.

    As part of this process, you will fabricate mechanical parts utilizing an on-site machine shop equipped with a CNC mill.

    Additionally, you will assist in the coordination of prototype construction by organizing component aquizition with Purchasers/Planners.

    You will also assist in documentation of designs using 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks.


    Key Responsibilities:
    Create and/or modify mechanical parts for use in engineering prototypes and/or production assemblies
    Build and test mechanical sub-assemblies and test fixtures
    Operate and maintain fabrication machinery including CNC mill, lathe, drill press, vertical bandsaw, sheet metal break, sheet metal shear as well as various hand tools
    Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks to view and/or modify mechanical designs
    Organize prototype assembly builds by coordinating component acquisitions with Purchasers/Planners
    Organize and prioritize fabrication requests in coordination with management
    Assist in the testing of designs using basic test equipment such as a digital multi-meter and oscilloscope
    Provide accurate verbal and written reports of test results
    Provide feedback for improving designs for manufacturability
    Submit Engineering Change Requests as needed to improve produce-ability and quality
    Other duties may be assigned


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Associate degree (A.A.) degree in Engineering or Electro/Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent from a two-year or technical school; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Desired Qualifications:
    Read, interpret, and edit 2D and 3D mechanical drawings
    CNC milling machine operation (conversational programming)
    Manual Lathe operation
    Mechanical part fabrication
    Aluminum sheet metal part fabrication
    Mechanical assembly experience
    Familiarity with Southwest ProtoTRAK CNC milling machines
    CNC milling machine and other shop tool maintenance
