Description
Job Description: Prominent firm in Santa Monica seeks a Litigation Paralegal to join their team. The ideal Litigation Paralegal possesses 3+ years of experience in complex business and commercial litigation. Experience leading projects and working with a paralegal team strongly preferred, as well as experience in litigation support databases (such as iPro, Relativity, Summation or Concordance), e-discovery, e-docs, document imaging and spreadsheets.
Litigation Paralegal Job Duties:
Organize and manage case files, including legal documents, correspondence, and evidence.
Conduct legal research on case-related issues such as statutes, regulations, case law, and legal precedents.
Assist with the preparation and drafting of legal documents such as complaints, answers, motions, discovery requests, and briefs.
Manage the discovery process by gathering, reviewing, and organizing documents and information relevant to the case.
File legal documents with courts and regulatory agencies, adhering to filing procedures and deadlines.
Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information, schedule meetings, and provide case updates.
Assist attorneys with trial preparation, which may involve organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, coordinating witness testimonies, and gathering deposition transcripts.
Handle billing tasks such as timekeeping, preparing invoices, and tracking expenses related to the case.
Utilize legal software and technology tools for case management, document review, e-discovery, and trial presentation.
Ensure compliance with ethical and professional standards in legal practice, including maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to conflict of interest rules.
Litigation Paralegal Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
Must have paralegal certificate OR declaration
3+ years or more of complex business and commercial litigation experience
Knowledge in the following softwares is highly preferred: iPro, Relativity, Summation, Concordance, Microsoft Office
Prior experience with eDiscovery, eDocs, document imaging, and spreadsheets
