    Discipleship Frontier is a 10-month intensive leadership development program based out of Anchorage, Alaska. We empower 21-26-year-olds with the tools, training, spiritual disciplines and their unique giftedness to live "life to the full" (John 10:
    10). Participants immerse themselves in part-time work, serving within local Young Life ministries, and Biblical training.

    Students discover the depths of who God is, who He created them to be, and how to influence the world with the Gospel.

    Through study, work, service and adventure, students are propelled into a purposeful future.

    Equip

    Through training, peer-to-peer relationship and mentoring, students will work through two semesters of Biblical leadership development. The classroom environment will account for roughly 10 hours a week. Students will encounter who Jesus is through His Word, the teaching and training of local pastors, and peer engagement.

    Experience


    While living in Alaska, there will be no lack of outdoor adventure Besides camping, hiking and fishing, students will experience three expeditions intentionally designed to parallel their faith journey.

    Responsibilities:


    POSITION PURPOSE:

    To fulfill the vision of Discipleship Frontier (DF) of empowering 21-26-year-olds with the tools, training, spiritual disciplines and their unique giftedness to live "life to the full" (John 10:
    10) through creating adventures, developing community, service and delivering/facilitating Biblical teaching.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Implement vision and direction of DF, committee and regional staff.


    • Execute vision and take ownership of the DF experience.
    • Build a joyful, fun, encouraging and challenging "Discipleship Culture" throughout the DF experience.
    • Create meaningful experiences to promote growth, learning and spiritual advancement within the DF family.
    • Innovate and develop new and creative ideas to further the mission of making disciples.
    • Communicate with the committee chair and DF director on how to implement vision and direction of DF while cultivating innovative ideas and methods to propel the mission forward.
    Lead and direct Discipleship Frontier experiences.


    • Organize, plan and ensure execution of all DF programming (welcome week, teaching days, DF nights, Friday adventures, weekend adventures, etc.) with the support of the DF director.
    • Provide spiritual/physical guidance and mentorship to students within DF.
    • Establish and execute high level of excellence among all DF events and activities.
    • Manage and organize all logistical details for DF events and activities.
    • Ensure the planning, strategizing, updating and filling of the annual calendar with events and experiences that will propel forward the mission of DF with the support of the DF director.
    • Solve problems that will inevitably arise among students.
    • Maintain weekly office hours with students, listening and engaging in struggles/successes within the DF program and making appropriate adjustments as needed.
    Discipleship coordinator.


    • Facilitate and execute the process of discipleship within the DF program.
    • Assist in the delivery of Biblical studies, adventure, service and community time, all pointing back to the ultimate mission of empowering young adults with the Gospel.
    • Assist in collaboration with the DF director, teachers, mentors, host families, pastors, etc. to effectively disciple students throughout all elements of DF.
    • Engage, participate, and support in the delivery of curriculum/teaching of discipleship frontier and walking alongside students while being taught by teaching coordinators and local pastors.
    • Listen and observe the needs and desires of current students, tailoring an effective gospel-driven experience to best lead to discipleship.
    Internal care coordination.


    • Ensure that all of the students' needs are met in a timely, reasonable and excellent manner.
    • Communicate regularly the appreciation and thankfulness of DF to host families, teachers, ministry partners and employers.
    • Express love and care on behalf of DF and the community by intentionally celebrating birthdays, holidays and special occasions with students.
    • Ensure birthday, Christmas and graduation gifts are intentionally given to each student as the time arises.
    Administrative tasks.


    • Create and deliver monthly newsletters to donors and ministry partners.
    • Develop and deliver a detailed weekly schedule/agenda to students.
    • Establish, update and communicate the DF calendar within the DF family and staff.
    • Maintain and manage DF email communications with prospective students, donors, staff, community members, ministry partners, etc.
    • Develop and mail welcome packs for incoming students.
    • Create, organize, and mail holiday and graduation mailings.
    • Responsible for DF budget tracking and fundraising tracking for students and staff.
    • Fundraise 100% of personal salary.
    • Execute all other administrative tasks that ensure positive development and effective maintenance of DF (donor care, newsletters, Concur reports, area budgeting, cash flow management, advertisement, etc.).
    Enforce high level of safety.


    • Assist in mitigating all safety concerns in all DF environments. This includes trip planning, risk assessment, gear maintenance and decision making.
    • Prepare, educate and equip self with the tools and resources needed to provide safe experiences.
    • Uphold policies and standard procedures within DF adventures.
    Recruitment and student placement.


    • Participate in active recruitment beginning the year prior to each program year.
    • Engage in the student interview and selection processes.
    • Assist in host family placement for each student.
    • Assist in employment placement for each student.
    • Manage and lead the student fundraising process with support of the DF director.
    Qualifications:


    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree or more required.
    • Able to effectively disciple young adults and walk alongside them in their life.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Highly capable and willing to do administrative tasks associated with DF.
    • Capable of planning and leading weeklong/weekend excursions.
    • Skilled in written and spoken communication.
    • Minimum of two years' experience in ministry (paid or unpaid).
    • Capable of flexing work hours to meet monthly and seasonal surge demands as needed.
    • Strong knowledge of camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, hunting, snow sports and climbing preferred.
    • Ability, comfortability and passion to lead back country excursions strongly preferred.
    • Certifications and experience in wilderness first aid, EMT, swift water rescue, AVY 1, etc. preferred.
    • Love and passion for the state of Alaska and what it has to offer required.

    • Ability to make decisions and take ownership of projects.
    • Ability to solve problems.
    • Interpersonal/people skills to engage in difficult situations and to build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, students, employers, host families and the community of Anchorage.
    • Passion and ability to disciple young adults through a pivotal and life-changing season.
