    Business Information Developer Consultant (Level 3 Data Engineer)

    Location:
    This position will work a hybrid model (remote and in office - 2 days per week).

    Ideal candidates will live or be willing to relocate to within 50 miles of our Pulse Point location in Richmond, VA.

    The

    Business Information Developer Consultant (Level 3 Data Engineer)

    is responsible for developing and executing more complex data mining analyses.

    How you will make an impact:
    Establish connectivity to operations source systems and data repositories.

    Conduct data discovery work to understand strengths, limitations, and opportunities within the available data.

    Build an increasingly comprehensive understanding of database design, data definitions, system capabilities, and data integrity issues.

    Use structured query language (SQL) to extract relevant sets of data to address operational needs and challenges.

    Work with a diverse set of business partners in Operations, IT, etc. to understand their business needs and craft data-oriented solutions.

    Develop and support database-related applications for business areas requiring design and implementation of database tables.

    Conduct training on use of developed applications.

    Develop standardized reporting using the data warehouse, in addition to ad hoc reports.

    Determine how decision support systems will provide the data required to make effective business decisions.

    Perform modeling of information sources and flows.

    Coordinate the activities of a project team and monitor project schedules and costs for projects.

    Develop strategic report applications from the data warehouse.


    Establish and maintain excellent knowledge of data warehouse database design, data definitions, system capabilities, programming languages, and data integrity issues.

    Develop and support complex data warehouse-related applications for business areas requiring design and implementation of database tables.

    Conduct training on use of applications developed.


    Minimum Requirements:


    Requires a BS/BA degree and a minimum of 4 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.


    Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
    Experience presenting technical subject matters to non-technical audiences strongly preferred.

    Experience in the maintenance of data processes and data quality strongly preferred.


    Ability to learn new skills and subject matters (developing a network of knowledgeable contacts, assessing level of understanding and gaining new insights, documenting useful information for broader team's use, etc.) strongly preferred.

    Ability to toggle effectively between several concurrent projects preferred.

    Proficient in presenting team's work in various forums preferred.

    Ability to train and mentor junior team members in data engineering work preferred.

    Background in operations (pharmacy, contact center, manufacturing, print or digital communications, etc.) preferred.

    Familiarity with Amazon RedShift, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent database software preferred.

    Familiarity with AWS Glue or other data import/ETL software (Microsoft SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or equivalent) preferred.

    PC, spreadsheet, and database skills strongly preferred.

    Experience in standard Business Information tools and programming/query languages preferred.
