    Job Description:
    The Controls Engineer will be responsible for owning all software aspects of various machinery and tooling projects. These may vary from small R&D tasks to large-scale production equipment. The Controls Engineer will work with customers to define the needs and specifications for their projects.

    These projects will generally be interdisciplinary, and the engineer will work with other members of the team to deliver an integrated and functional solution.


    Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:


    Develop, test, install, and integrate software solutions related to custom automation, machine vision, feedback systems, robotics, and data collection and managementProgram and integrate various off-the-shelf components (cameras, robots, sensors, motors, etc)Meet project budgets and schedulesCoordinate progress and roadblocks with Project ManagersSupport and assist the production team during debug, commissioning, and installation of equipmentCoordinate with interdisciplinary teams on mechanical and electrical integrationCoordinate with and manage external suppliersCoordinate with customers to refine requirements and align on project requirementsCoordinate with customers on functional and user interface requirements (HMIs, MES integration, etc.)Support equipment deployment and service at customer sites.

    Some travel is expected in this role. ~5%.Off-.


    Requirements:
    1+ years of experience developing software for PLCs or similar devices. College experience acceptable.

    AutoCAD or Solid Works proficiency in creating wiring diagrams1+ years in a controls design role, in an industrial automation and/or machine building environment, or experience working in a manufacturing environmentDesired Hard Skill Sets:

    BS or higher degree in the engineering fieldKnowledge and experience in programming and tuning servomotors, stepper motors, and VFD-controlled motors.

    Experience with Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, etc.)Experience with Robot Systems (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Mitsubishi, Epson, etc.)Experience with field devices (sensors and actuators), digital and analog I/O signals processing, and interfacing techniques.

    Knowledge of one or more programming languages (VB.NET or C preferred)Basic knowledge of HMI/GUI, and PLC development environment softwareKnowledge of .NET and COM/ActiveX environments and SDK/APIs implementationUnderstanding of various communication protocols (RS232, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, )Direct experience troubleshooting automated equipmentAbility to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.

    Ability to read mechanical drawings.

    CaliforniaTravel: Up to 10% of the time to various suppliers, collaborators, and client sites outside of CaliforniaCompensation:Competitive Salary Range (75K to 90K) will depend on experience
