    _Physical Therapy Assistant Opportunities
    • Acute Care_*_Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, VA_
      _Full time, Days_*_Note: Prior Acute Care experience preferred_
      Primary Function/General Purpose of PositionThe incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to performance improvement activities as applicable, problem solving, and productivity.

    Employment Qualifications+ The incumbent shall be a graduate of an APTA approved Associate's degree program or shall have completed equivalent training, and hold an applicable and current state license or certification to practice.+ Experience working with adult and geriatric populations is desirable.+ Experience working in the acute care setting is desirable however is not required+ Current BLS certification required or obtained within ninety days of completing new employee orientation.
    Essential Job Functions*Clinical Area**+ Provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions as directed by the Physical Therapist.+ Monitor patient response to treatment.+ Document the course of patient care in the electronic medical record including progress made and continuing need for treatment.+ Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that support continued functional independence and document same in the electronic medical record.+ Collaborate with the Physical Therapist to develop new methods of delivering education to patients and family.+ Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team.
