    Summary:

    The Systems Integration Engineer is an information technology professional who provides programming and technical development of integrated solutions and delivers high-quality interoperability solutions that support Cook Children's current and future clinical and business operations by developing, innovating, testing, maintaining, installing and debugging integration/interface solutions, middleware tools, and related technologies. He/she/they are responsible for integration among Epic Bridges, an interface engine (Corepoint), automated managed file transfer (GoAnywhere MFT) software, and other tools as needed. Interfaces include but are not limited to: laboratory, radiology, immunization registry, billing, pharmacy, dental, HIEs, and our Health Plan. This role requires strong technical ability. The following are key responsibilities of an integration engineer: analyzing and designing system specifications; modifying system build; data mapping; establishing interfaces; developing and modifying code, functions, programs, and routines; resolving and escalating integration issues; providing consulting services to application teams, vendors, and/or customers regarding how to integrate information technologies into clinical and business processes; designing and evaluating new data interchange formats; improving physical design; and documenting data policy, standards, and procedures. Skills sets for an integration engineer include interface administration, web services (REST/SOAP), HL7, FHIR, CCDA, XML, EDI, FTP, TCP/IP, API, Microsoft SQL, etc. to accomplish these goals.

    Qualifications:
    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A BA/BS degree is preferred.
    • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of education and/or experience stated above.
    • Minimum 2 years' direct experience with in a healthcare environment preferred.
    • Licensure/Certification:
    • Epic certification(s) required within 6 months from date of hire, allowing for two test retakes.
      Other industry relevant certification(s) a plus.
    • Minimum 2 years' experience with interface development using XML, HL7, FTP, or TCP/IP required, preferably in a healthcare environment.
    • Experience with Epic Bridges preferred.
    • Experience with Corepoint interface engine preferred, but 1 year experience with an interface engine required.
    • Experience with managed file transfer preferred.
    • Experience with business and technical requirements analysis and design.
    • Demonstrated use of analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
