    Responsibilities

    In the analyst role, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of venture capitalists and New York Blood Center researchers and leaders to identify and evaluate potential investments in new companies. You will use your financial analysis, market research, and business development skills to assess the viability and growth potential of new startups, and support the investment decisions of the firm. With the right combination of hard and soft skills, you can be an integral part of driving the success of our portfolio companies and identifying new investment opportunities.

    Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify potential investment opportunities in sectors aligned with NYBC Ventures' investment thesis.
  • Perform due diligence on prospective startups, including financial analysis, market sizing, competitive landscape assessment, and evaluation of the management team.
  • Collaborate with the investment team to prepare investment memos, financial models, and presentations for investment committee meetings.
  • Monitor and support the existing portfolio companies, including tracking key performance indicators, assisting with strategic initiatives, and analyzing financial reports.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact investment decisions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, industry experts, and co-investors to source potential investment opportunities and stay connected with the startup ecosystem.

  • Qualifications

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field. MBA or CFA designation is a plus. MBA preferred.

    Experience:


    • 3+ years of professional working experience in a similar role, ideally at a venture capital firm, healthcare setting, investment banking, private equity, or a startup

    Required skills:

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and other relevant tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Keen interest in startups, with a deep understanding of emerging trends and disruptive business models.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a willingness to take ownership of projects and drive them to completion.
  • Knowledge of the New York/Boston startup ecosystem and network connections within the venture capital industry is a plus.
  • Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in healthcare consulting, venture capital or life scince business development product.
  • Strong financial analysis and financial modeling skills

  • For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $72,000.00p/yr to $82,000.00p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant's skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
