    Description
    Brief Description

    Providing security and protection for employees and visitors in Dallas County buildings using various devices like walkthrough metal detectors, handheld metal detectors, and x-ray technology to prevent dangerous items from entering.

    Remaining vigilant for any unusual circumstances, suspicious or threatening conditions, or behaviors.

    Performing screener duties, controlling access, and ensuring safety on County property, taking actions to prevent harm and reporting incidents.

    Operating x-ray and metal detectors to screen individuals, maintaining cleanliness in the screening area.
    Communicating instructions clearly and following industry procedures for additional screenings.

    Exercising situational awareness, communication skills, and judgement to identify potential threats that may need further screening.

    Interacting with respect, writing detailed reports, and using communication devices like radios and telephones.
    Following instructions from law enforcement and performing assigned duties.


    Job Requirements: Education, Experience, and Training:
    Graduation from an accredited high school or GED Program.


    Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record. Meeting mental and physical standards. Proficiency in safeguarding entry points and infrastructures. Mandated physical exam and drug testing. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, observation abilities, decision-making skills, and professional judgement.

    Ability to work effectively in a team, communicate clearly, and follow directions.


    Physical/Environmental Requirements:
    Binocular vision correctable to 20/30, ability to distinguish between colors, hearing capacity for conversations from ten feet, with or without hearing aid.
