Summary/Objective

KMS Solutions is looking for a highly motivated individual to join a team of engineers and technicians providing engineering and technical support to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, RI. The team is responsible for offering systems engineering and cybersecurity services to NUWC and is actively involved in the development of new undersea weapons systems for the U.S. Navy.

Essential Functions

Act as an independent third party to assess and validate that a system has implemented the approved security control baseline.
Assess the provided system, without being responsible for developing the Security Authorization Package or engineering the system, tasks that fall under the program/Information System Security Engineer.
Utilize the Security Control Assessor as an advisor for validation, documentation, vulnerability mitigation, and residual risk determination.

Required Education and Experience:

Current Secret clearance, with eligibility for a Top-Secret Clearance.
Navy Qualified Validator Certification (NQV) in good standing.
Information Assurance certification compliant with DoD 8570 (e.g., Security+) (IAT Level II) or (IAT Level III).
2-5 years of practical experience in Cybersecurity, Engineering, T&E or A&A related field.
Experience in independently performing NQV activities according to the Navy's Risk Management Framework (RMF) Process Guide (RPG).
Experience with DoD Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Services (eMASS) & Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM) for NIPR and SIPR networks.
Knowledge of IA/INFOSEC concepts and requirements like Firewall Policy, Ports & Protocols, Cybersecurity, DoD A&A processes, and standards.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in any field.
Experience with DoD Navy Systems.
Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance.

Competencies:

Effective time management to meet assigned milestones.
Experience collaborating with distributed teams.

Work Environment:

This role is based in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Part-time on-call position to support surge efforts, and the employee will support surge efforts as needed.

Travel:

Up to 10% travel may be required.
