    Amergis Healthcare is hiring for a Cytotechnologist who stains, mounts, and studies cells to detect evidence of cancer, hormonal abnormalities, and other pathological conditions following established standards and practices.


    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinates and participates in specialized and complex technical tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens for evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions to include marking abnormalities, recording diagnoses and filing cases for subsequent review with pathologist
    • Coordinates technical activities in the cytology preparatory laboratory and monitor day-to- day activities of the cytology laboratory
    • Reviews patient history for each case; coordinates files of slides, diagnosis and laboratory reports
    • Maintains files of teaching slides for cytology students
    • Evaluates collected laboratory data and prepares reports setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations for conclusions
    • Prepares work assignments ensuring adequate manning for performance of laboratory tasks
    • Reviews work of lower level employees and assists in the training of new personnel
    • Performs additional duties:
    cytopreparation, computer liaison, daily lab workflow coordination for cytoprep and screening

    • Maintains effective laboratory operations by adhering to standards of specimen collection, preparation and laboratory safety
    • Adjusts, maintains, or repairs laboratory equipment such as microscopes as required

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in biological science or related field preferred.
    • One (1) year of recent experience as a Cytotechnologist required
    • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
    • Must possess Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT-ASCP) from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists
