    Description

    The intermodal dispatcher strategically plans and coordinates all aspects of the company's transportation operations. With successful performance, part-time candidates have the option of converting to full-time status with benefits. Responsibilities include:

    • Operational workflow: Work individually and collaboratively in load and capacity planning, scheduling, execution, and monitoring. Coordinate the entire load cycle, including equipment management, and meeting revenue, cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets. Provide coverage as needed for after-hours and emergency support.
    • Communication and problem solving: Communicate internally and externally via email, phone, chat, and text, resolving arising problems or complaints, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service.
    • Customer interaction: Receive and enter orders and coordinate with customers on all aspects of the load process and company performance; respond proactively to customer concerns or complaints. Track charges and invoice customers. Provide rate quotes for prospective customers.
    • Driver interaction: Assign drivers to loads and provide support throughout the load process. Track driver pay and process settlements. Assist with route planning. Coach for compliance to industry regulations.
    • Vendor interaction: Coordinate and negotiate with vendors.
    • Asset coordination: Ensure trucks are adequately maintained and serviced. Monitor and coordinate repair schedules and audit invoices.
    • Reporting: Track metrics (delivery times, costs, efficiency, etc.) and analyze data to assess driver and company performance. Suggest and implement improvements.
    • Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of receipts, mileages, delivery times and costs, provide documentation, as well as other administrative activities. Track all metrics including quantity, delivery times, costs, and efficiency. File reports as needed.
    • Compliance: Ensure that operations comply with laws, regulations, and requirements, including FMCSA / USDOT safety and compliance for motor carriers.
    • Other projects, tasks, and reports as needed.
    Requirements
    • Experience: Verifiable experience in transportation, including one year trucking dispatch.
    • Knowledge base: Trucking dispatch workflows and best practice, and USDOT and FMCSA regulations and standards.
    • Soft skills: High level of professionalism, including verbal and written communication skills. Strong organization, prioritizing, and problem-solving skills.
    • Abilities: Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently and to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    Work Environment and Benefits
    • Work schedule: Typically Monday through Friday; weekend or after-hours on-call status may be required. After 90 days, option to move to hybrid remote/in-office work model of two to three days remote.
