    Job DescriptionSalary:

    Title: Locomotive Design and Assembly Engineer

    Location: GE Transportation (A Wabtec Company) - Erie, PA

    Job Description:

    This position will be responsible for the technical/engineering of the assigned projects in terms of scope, timely delivery, quality, and compliance. The Engineer will interface with respective Wabtec departments and local suppliers to execute assigned projects. The candidate should have a solid engineering background and proven experience with leading various manufacturing and assembly projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsibilities to include support of manufacturing operations of locomotive rebuilding. This includes materials, manufacturing, assembly, and testing. Link between Erie and Boise.
    • Attend daily Transit operations calls and respond to technical questions as they arise.
    • Communicate issues too broader Transit team as needed.
    • Support as needed obsolete / fallout component replacement identification.
    • Support assembly issues in shop, fit ups, additional work-scopes.
    • Examine locomotives in shop to answer design and material questions.
    • Support as needed identified reliability field issues and sub-supplier technical issues.
    • Support BOM discrepancies and resolution between various engine model builds

    Desired Skills:

    • Understanding of locomotive systems integration.
    • Enjoys Hands on time with locomotive and supporting mechanics.
    • Experience with Oracle MRP data navigation.
    • Experience with Root Cause identification and methods.
    • Experience with shop practices; machining, fabrication, piping and wiring.
    • Knowledge of wear, failure mechanisms, and common repairs.
    • High personal energy and self-accountability.
    • Responsive; ability to deliver effective solutions quickly.
    • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Industrial) or equivalent experience in a technical role.
