    Job Summary

    The buyer will be responsible for procuring the raw materials, supplies, and services required in the manufacturing of life-saving Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) products.

    In addition, the buyer will evaluate quotes, negotiate prices, monitor inventory levels, and qualify new suppliers.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for purchasing material and managing inventory levels for assigned commodities to support the Master Production Schedule.
    • Manage current supplier relationships in addition to evaluating and recommending new suppliers based on RFPs, RFQs and formal business reviews.
    • Advise management of market conditions and supplier base activity, which could affect pricing, and/or future availability.
    • Participate on cross functional teams within the existing and new product planning process to assure timely acquisition of materials to support new product launches.
    • Ensure Engineering and Marketing design changes are properly communicated to the supplier and all appropriate departments within the company.
    • Work with the existing supply chain to develop capacity plans, understand risk management and determine when additional sources of supply are needed.
    • Work with Risk and Compliance and ensure compliance with all regulations.
    • Develop supplier relationships while continuing to support the KPIs of cost savings, cost containment, supplier quality and inventory management.
    • Establish and maintain open communication channels across all departments, domestic and international.
    • Assist and support all departments with purchasing process and procedures including the RFP, RFQ, and the supplier onboarding process.
    • Comply with all applicable laws/policies governing the buyer/seller relationship and conduct business in an ethical way to represent the company in the best possible manner.
    • Actively participate in safety initiatives and contribute to maintaining a hazard-free and safe work environment.

    Required Skills and Abilities

    • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Basic knowledge of ERP systems.
    • Excellent negotiation and organization skills.
    • Travel required up to 10% of the time.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferred.
    • 5 years in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, or combination of education and experience, preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment.
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Although this job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, standing and walking throughout the day is required to carry out job duties.
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
