We're expanding our team in Houston and are looking for an AI Tech Lead to drive the design and delivery of secure, scalable, AI‑enabled platforms. This role sits at the intersection of strong backend and infrastructure foundations and practical, production‑ready AI, with a focus on building agentic systems that deliver real operational value.You'll lead a small engineering team, set technical direction, and work closely with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders to turn complex problems into reliable, intelligent solutions.
What You'll Do;
Platform & Infrastructure
Design and implement secure, scalable AWS infrastructure aligned with enterprise and Well‑Architected standards. own backend architecture, integrations, and system design, supported by clear architecture diagrams and documentation.
- Establish and maintain robust data flows and data lineage, ensuring traceability and governance across platforms.
- Define and enforce security models, access controls, and best practices across services.
AI & Agentic Systems
Architect and deliver AI‑enabled solutions, including prompt integration, inference pipelines, and agent‑based frameworks.
Build agentic systems that automate workflows and add measurable value to business operations.
- Guide teams on how to use AI effectively, ensuring strong backend and data foundations are in place before scaling AI capabilities.
- Balance experimentation with production readiness, reliability, and security.
Leadership & Delivery
Lead and mentor a small team of engineers, setting technical standards and providing hands‑on guidance.
- Partner with Product to design solutions for business use cases using proven architectural patterns.
- Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment, and shared outcomes.
- Manage backlog, Agile ceremonies, and sprint planning to ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery.
- Serve as a Platform and AI Subject Matter Expert (SME), promoting reuse, consistency, and long‑term scalability.
What We're Looking For
- AWS Expertise: Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Secrets Manager, AWS CDK.
- Backend Development: Strong experience with TypeScript ) and Python.
- Workflow Orchestration: Step Functions, Orkes/Conductor, or similar orchestration frameworks.
- Integrations & Security: OAuth2, authentication flows, API security, and security‑by‑design principles.
- Databases: Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline.
- Frontend Awareness: Working knowledge of React or Angular.
AI & Data Foundations
- Experience designing or implementing:
- Prompt integration and inference workflows
- Agentic or autonomous systems
- End‑to‑end data flows and data lineage
- Strong understanding that AI success depends on solid backend, infrastructure, and data foundations.
Leadership & Ways of Working
- Proven experience leading teams in Agile environments.
- Strong documentation and architectural communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders.
- Solid grounding in software engineering principles, design patterns, microservices, and event‑driven architectures.
