Job Description and Duties
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades the Carpenter II, plans, lays out, and inspects construction and repair work according to plans and specifications. Working with a crew of carpenters, other trades people or inmate workers and in correlation with other trades, demonstrates the best methods of performing carpentry, masonry, tile, and fence work. Enforce safety rules and regulations. Supervise the conduct of inmates, prevent escapes and injury to themselves and others, or to state property. Supervise inmate workers at all times. Maintain the security of working areas and work materials.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
