    Job Description:


    The Data Center Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day activities that support data center operations and support of IT systems, network services, and business critical process and procedures that support the delivery of customer products and services.

    The ideal candidate is a strongly motivated self-starter who conducts themselves professionally and works under minimal supervision.


    Responsibilities:
    Experience from stacking and racking of servers to battery/power.
    Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and ensuring uptime.
    A penchant for leading projects and can work autonomously under the customer direction, written or verbal, on servers/routers/switches.

    Supports the delivery of data center services including colocation, telecommunications services, and deployment of additional services to customers and internal business systems.

    Acts as a technical and operational contact for data center customers, vendors, and carriers as it relates to colocation, connectivity, and network products and services.

    Carries out remote hands task under the direction of the Network/Engineering
    Infrastructure Manager and IT Manager necessary to support internal networks, IT infrastructure, computers, electronics, and telephone systems.

    Conducts activities inside IT and telecommunications rooms or cabinets such as the installation of IT and network hardware, making or running patch cables, and verifying or testing cable paths.

    Coordinates and oversees access to and work within the facility with third-party contractors, vendors, and carriers related to structured cabling installation, circuit delivery and equipment installations in IT and telecommunications rooms and customer space.

    Supports offsite points-of-presence at remote locations and aids in operations, administration, and maintenance of infrastructure, network equipment, and tasks related to the delivery and support of network services.

    Additional Accountabilities:

    100% completion and fulfillment of Client SOW and expectations
    100% accurate and timely documentation of work orders
    Accurate and timely submission of timesheet documentation in Field Service
    Accurate and timely submission of Task Hazard/Activity Hazard Assessments in Field service
    Accurate and timely submission of Incident Reports in Field Service
    100% completion of required TalentLMS based Safety and Compliance training courses as assigned.
    100% adherence to Salute Mission Critical safety standards and best practices
    100% adherence to client security/privacy practices and expectations

    Required qualifications, skills, experience for success:
    Experience in Data Centers and co-location environments managing hardware assets.
    Demonstrable project management experience with the ability to manage tasks under tight deadlines.
    Experience with a large variety of different vendor hardware: servers, storage, and network equipment
    Experience in contributing to detailed project plans for programs involving cross- functional teams and challenging requirements.
    Demonstrated ability to coordinate issue resolution across departmental teams.
    Experience coordinating vendors.
    Experience with Asset Management Systems
    Experience in managing inventory of cable, power cords and other infrastructure items.

    Preferred Qualities Leading to Success:
    Ability to understand drawings, plans, and specifications.
    Ability to follow instructions to complete project in a timely and qualitative manner.
    Possess Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet competency.
    Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.
    Possess a strong sense of methodology, processes, and metrics.
    Possess and demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    Possess strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
    Physical ability to lift at least 40 lbs. on a regular basis, and able to use server lifts or pallet jacks.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.

    Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
    Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.
    Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
    Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
    Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
    Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility
    Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
    Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
    Possession of a valid driver's license for work-related travel, as required
