    Hastings Mutual is currently looking for a Senior Project Manager This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Management professional to play an instrumental role in leading the execution of projects that support our overall business objectives and strategies.

    Position Summary

    The Senior Project Manager plans, executes, and finalizes projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.

    This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.

    The Senior Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

    Position Location & Work Format


    This position is flexible in its location We will entertain candidates who reside within our six-state territory (Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, or Illinois) to work a remote schedule.

    Candidates residing within the greater Hastings area will be able to work a hybrid (combination of on-site and work-from-home) schedule as an alternative.

    Generally, this position will work within our standard office hours of Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
    Hastings Mutual may consider candidates in other states to work remotely if elements of their application are strong.

    Position Duties & Responsibilities

    Strategy and Planning
    Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
    Effectively communicates project expectations with team members and other stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
    Liaises with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
    Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
    Plans and schedules project timeline and milestones using appropriate tools.
    Tracks project milestones and deliverables.
    Determines the content of status reports from the project team, analyzes resources, and troubleshoots problem areas.
    Defines project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle.
    Conducts project postmortems and creates a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

    Acquisition and Deployment
    Estimates the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
    Drafts and submits budget proposals and recommends subsequent budget changes where necessary.
    Where required, negotiates with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
    Determines and assesses need for additional staff and/or consultants and makes the appropriate recruitments if needed during project cycle.

    Operational Management
    Directs and manages project development from beginning to end.
    Develops full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
    Delegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
    Identifies and resolves issues and conflicts within the project team.
    Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path.
    Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations.
    Proactively manages changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.

    Coaches, mentors, motivates, and supervises project team members and contractors and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

    Builds, develops, and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

    Leadership
    Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management.
    Develops, documents, and communicates improvements to project management processes.
    Trains, coaches, and mentors Project Managers.
    Leads peers through team collaboration, ensuring high productivity while maintaining a positive experience for team members.

    Actively participates in professional development, i.e. continuing education or self improvement.
    Other duties as assigned by leadership, either verbally or in writing.

    Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
    Five years minimum experience working in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
    PMI certification is required.
    Knowledge of industry standard software development life cycles, ITIL.
    Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    Proficiency in prioritizing tasks and balancing workloads to meet objectives.
    Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
    Demonstrated experience reading communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
    Ability to defuse tension among project teams, should it arise.
    Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
    Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project.
    Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication ability.
    Demonstrated PC skills including proficient use of Microsoft Office products.
