    To learn more about Baptist Health, visit us at The Neonatal Milk Lab Technician is responsible for providing nutritional services through preparing and distributing human milk, formula feedings, and maintaining Milk Lab records.

    This position is responsible for performing inventory control, conducting compliance audits, and maintaining profession competency.

    The Neonatal Milk Lab Technician works as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team and works under the direct supervision of the Nurse/Assistant Nurse Managers.

    The Neonatal Milk Lab Technician will assist with training of new Milk Lab staff in collaboration with the Lactation Specialist (IBCLC), or other disciplines as needed.

    The Neonatal Milk Lab Technician is a fully-trained position designed to utilize knowledge and competency while performing technical lab functions.

    The Neonatal Milk Lab Technician maintains productivity standards, demonstrates effective time management to prioritize tasks, uses department resources prudently, and participates in compliance and quality performance improvement efforts to ensure that milk preparation and distribution is safe and effective.


    • Licensed Practical Nurse or Pharmacy Technician with minimum of three years pharmacy technician experience. Prior experience in healthcare; experience in either patient care or as a Pharmacy Technician required. LPN or Pharmacy Technician. Milk Lab Technician competency. Milk Lab Technician National certification acquire within one year of hire.

    Knowledge of and ability to maintain strict aseptic standards Strong mathematical computation skills Ability to perform and maintain detailed inventory control and management Ability to maintain accurate and complete records Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety principles.

    Organizational and communication skills are crucial to successful performance. Interacts with staff in many departments to deliver care. Excellent analytical skills to gather, analyze, and interpret data Medical terminology training preferred Attention to detail Customer service skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Time and task management, prioritizing, and organizational skill Ability to prioritize and problem solve Ability to type and utilize computers
