    Role Overview

    The Curriculum Writer position is ideal for professionals transitioning from a hands-on teaching role to a focus on curriculum creation. This role is responsible for crafting curriculum content, including lesson plans, activities, projects, and assessments tailored to K-5 computer science education. Curriculum Writers are expected to bring their classroom experience into the curriculum development process, ensuring the content is both engaging and educational. Curriculum Writers can expect to work on many different curriculum projects under the guidance and leadership of senior team members.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Education, Masters preferred
    • 0-2 years of curriculum development experience
    • 3+ years K-5 teaching experience
    • Basic understanding of core computer science concepts
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Nice to Haves

    • District-level curriculum development experience
    • K-8 ELL experience
    • Computer Science degree
    • Edtech startup experience

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the development of curriculum materials including lesson plans, activities, projects, and assessments, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and accessible for K-5 students.
    • Work with Curriculum Developers and Managers to refine and revise curriculum materials based on feedback.
    • Participate in curriculum review sessions, providing insights and suggestions for improvement.
    • Assist in the creation of student and teacher supplemental resources to enhance the learning experience.
    • Contribute to collaborative projects, offering fresh insights and ideas to enhance educational content.
    • Stay up-to-date on current trends in computer science education to inform curriculum development efforts.
