    Job Description:

    The Elementary Classroom Teacher is assigned as a generalist to deliver a comprehensive educational program following state laws, West Virginia Board of Education, and county policies.

    Qualifications:

    Holds or qualifies for a West Virginia Professional or Temporary Teaching Certificate endorsed for elementary education, grades 1-8, 1-6 or K-6 or multi-subjects, grades K-8. Length of Employment: 200 Days

    Responsibilities:
    • Implement approved programs of study by the West Virginia Board of Education and county Board of Education.
    • Create and maintain a conducive classroom climate for learning.
    • Use instructional management systems models that enhance student learning.
    • Monitor student progress toward content standards and objectives mastery.
    • Communicate effectively with the educational community and parents/guardians regularly.
    • Demonstrate competence in technology standards implementation.
    • Implement standards-based lesson design.
    • Implement state and county testing program following policies.
    • Implement federal and state-mandated initiatives at the elementary level.
    • Complete and submit required reports timely as per regulations.
    • Report harmful situations affecting student/staff health and safety.
    • Identify and refer children with learning deficiencies for evaluation.
    • Advise the principal on situations requiring immediate intervention.
    • Complete designated duty assignments by the principal.
    • Communicate student progress/deficiencies to parents/guardians.
    • Accept responsibility for student behavior.
    • Supervise students following state, county, and school policies.
    • Attend faculty senate and required meetings.
    • Fulfill annual continuing education requirements and attend training programs.
    • Report student attendance as legally required and per county policy.
    • Maintain and order necessary supplies and equipment for program operations.
    • Accept extra duty assignments for program success.
    • Utilize benchmarks and formative assessments regularly for instructional guidance.
    • Participate in school and district in-service trainings to learn about initiatives.
    • Establish classroom management standards promoting a learning environment.
    • Provide individual and group instruction meeting student needs and motivating them.
    • Maintain professional work habits and upgrade skills.
    • Meet all professional responsibilities and perform duties as assigned by the principal.
