to join our team (based out of our Upper Midwest Wisconsin/Illinois/Iowa Region).
The Risk Manager is a hands-on position responsible for managing the overall risk management process for the company and its affiliates by ensuring cost-effective protection of assets and operational continuity through risk mitigation, claims management, and medical case management.
Establishes and maintains relationships with brokers and insurance carriers while providing support to internal and external customers to analyze risk and determine appropriate risk mitigation and cost-effective insurance coverage.

Manages medical case management and claims review process including identifying potential fraud
Communicates and negotiates with brokers, independent adjusters, attorneys, case managers, supervisors, employees, and medical treatment facilities regarding the management of both medical and non-medical claims; oversees the administration of the transitional duty and permanent work restriction elements of the medical case management
Manages and maintains the Risk Information Management System (RIMS) by reviewing loss run information from insurance carriers and adjusting internal records
Manages and procures insurance programs related to general liability, workers' compensation, automobile liability, builder's risk, environmental, railroad protective, owner's protective, property, equipment, professional liability, and specialty coverages.
Works with broker to obtain best policies, evaluate and negotiate coverage and pricing to ensure appropriate and cost-effective coverageMaintains Third Party Administrator (TPA) relationships and develops policies and procedures related to risk and insurance programs
Manages and oversees Risk Analyst
Reviews contracts and bids as they relate to insurance requirements and insurance risk exposures, and outlines insurance requirements to ensure appropriate coverage
Assists in-house counsel on claims management and investigation (including documentation of claims)
Manages Enrollments of OCIP/CCIPs (Owner/Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs)
Manages insurance programs for Joint Venture(s) when applicable
Assists with internal cost allocation and loss rates for risk
Identifies loss trends and provides training related to risk and insurance programs
Monitors the issuance of certificates of insurance and maintenance of insurance files
Asse sses
new developments in the fields of Insurance, Claims, and Risk Management that may have application to or that could potentially impact company operations and makes formal recommendations to senior management to establish strategy and tactics to accomplish short and long-term business objectives
Collaborates with the Safety Team to meet company risk and safety management goals and maintains oversight of OSHA regulatory records
Assists the Finance Department with invoicing, audits, and loss data
Mentors and provides training to personnel on issues related to Risk Management
Assists Corporate Counsel as necessary with claims strategy, litigation issues, and the settlement of claims
Provides direction and assistance to the purchasing/contract department in reviewing and processing non-routine subcontractor certificates of insurance and subcontractor pre-qualification packages
Attends regular meetings with insurance carriers and brokers; assists with liability exposure and setting financial reserves
Provides leadership of the Safe Production culture
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in insurance and risk management, finance, business management and/or 10 years' relevant experience
Prior risk and insurance experience, preferrable in a safety-focused construction environment
Proven ability to procure and manage a successful risk and insurance program and build strong relationships with brokers and TPAs
Knowledge of various types of insurance and claims management including but not limited to insurance codes, general industry safety orders related to Worker's Compensation and industrial safety, other pertinent laws and regulations, basic legal and medical terminology
Ability to provide customer service to internal and external customers and maintain confidentiality and discretion when interacting and/or communicating in verbal and written formats
Strong organization, problem-solving, and prioritizing skills; flexibility in performing multiple tasks in high-stress situations
